Amsterdam, 05 June 2018– After stops in Milan, Munich and Oslo the BYTON European roadshow is coming to Amsterdam now. At an exclusive event for media representatives, influencers and invited guests from business, economy and politics on July 26, BYTON experts will present the development of the brand and unveil the BYTON M-Byte Concept as a prelude to the premium electric car to be launched in 2019. Starting on 27 June, public guests will be given the opportunity to experience the car for the full weekend in the heart of Amsterdam (Hotel Conservatorium,Van Baerlestraat 27, 1071 AN Amsterdam)
The choice of Amsterdam as the fourth European BYTON location was a fond wish of the BYTON team: Amsterdam is a melting pot of different cultures and point of views. The people in Amsterdam are known to have a great openness for new ideas and a curiosity for innovative technologies. Thus made it perfect for discussions about the future of mobility.
"We live in a time of change. Thanks to new technologies in networking and autonomous driving, our concept of mobility is undergoing significant change. This allows us to massively improve the way our customers can utilise their time on the road", explains BYTON CEO and co-founder Carsten Breitfeld on the occasion of the opening of the three-day event. "It adds a new kind of freedom to the automobile, which can only be experienced in all its intensity if the design of the vehicle and its interior in particular are strictly geared towards this objective. That is precisely what BYTON does to offer the best possible solutions for our customers' requirements."
The BYTON M-Byte Concept
The new SUV will be manufactured at the BYTON facility in Nanjing, China. Pricing for the vehicles will start at $45,000 (approximately €37,500). The vehicle will be launched on the China market in 2019 and in the United States and Europe in 2020.
The main features include:
Shared lounge experience for car-based communication, entertainment and work, with contents and connectivity provided by the BYTON Life cloud platform.
A single Shared Experience Display (125 x 25 cm) in the centre console plus three additional screens. Pioneering human-car interaction using voice control, touch control, biometric identification and gesture recognition control technology.
Amazon Alexa integration for intelligent voice control and Amazon for audio and video content.
Maximum range of up to 520 km per fully charged battery. Interior design - the ultimate lounge experience The new SUV uses the particular architecture of electric vehicles to maximise the space in the interior.
The flat floor and the lack of a centre console give all passengers a sense of generous space. The individually adjustable seats offer lounge-like comfort and the luxurious experience of a premium lounge.
The BYTON Concept is equipped with a number of display screens, such as the Shared Experience Display, which replaces the centre console in conventional vehicles.
The driver tablet and the two screens for the rear seats are part of the lounge experience and integrate other contents and functions.
The most striking feature is the Shared Experience Display: The 125 x 25 cm display automatically adjusts its brightness to changing light conditions. It has a unique horizontal layout that allows for sharing the displayed content with other passengers.
Other additional features include a timber style floor, leather seats and a matching interior colour scheme. The front seats can be swivelled towards the centre by 12°, which creates a shared open space in which the passengers can socialise in full view of the Shared Experience Display, including from the rear seats.
An exterior design with digital horsepower
The BYTON M-Byte Concept is a medium-sized and intelligent electric premium-SUV with a total length of 4.85 m, a wheelbase of 2.945 m and 22-inch wheels. The entire design manifests a masculine yet elegant style defined by unmistakable proportions, a pitched roof line and many optimised aerodynamic features. The BYTON M-Byte Concept is dominated by smart surfaces, starting at the radiator grille. The LED headlights draw attention to the illuminated logo in the centre of the radiator grille in combination with connected lines and points, which offer number of different display modes for various driving scenarios, as well as features for communicating with users and pedestrians. The smart surface design also shapes the rear of the vehicle. Face recognition cameras are integrated in the B pillars on both sides of the car. Side cameras take the place of the conventional side mirrors. The BYTON Concept also offers invisible door handles and perfectly integrated antennas.
Pioneering human-car interaction
As a-generation smart device, the BYTON M-Byte Concept offers new and practical human-car interaction. BYTON Intuitive Access: a new way of unlocking cars. Facial recognition cameras identify the driver or passengers and open the doors. The seats, the entertainment programme and other saved profile settings are individually adjusted to the respective passenger. Automatic transfer of user profiles to any BYTON car. No matter which BYTON a driver uses, his profile can easily be downloaded from the cloud to the vehicle and make the driver feel right at home in any BYTON. BYTON Air Touch for advanced gesture recognition. This function allows display screens to be controlled by simple hand gestures from anywhere within the car. Users can, for example, select a destination from the main display by making a certain hand motion and then place it in the centre of the screen to activate the navigation system. The driver tablet allows the driver to control the Shared Experience Display, the navigation system, seat settings and other functions. Two physical buttons for controlling the volume and changing driving modes are located to the side of the tablet. In cooperation with Amazon, BYTON has integrated Alexa Voice in the vehicle's voice control system.
